Mavens’ Haven Fall Herbalist Gathering
$40
In many ancient cultures, the medicine woman is responsible for preserving the yeasts and creating seasonal brews. The process includes sacred language, ceremonies, and customs. At Mavens’ Haven we exclusively brew with local herbs using only organic sugar, yeast, and on occasional lemon or spices. The results vary, with the Horehound beer like a slightly bitter ale, the Elderflower like a champagne, Ginger like a digestive, and the Berry beers like sweet brandies.
For the beer class we will process herbal beer in each stage–harvesting a plant and making tea, then creating wort in the carboy, racking partially-ready wort, and bottling finished beer. The beers are hops, malt, and gluten-free. We will brew with seasonal herbs, fruit and berries, tasting aged beers as we go. Each participant will receive a 6-pack of aged beer from the Havens’ Cellar.
Registration with From the Forest here.
Making Hawthorne Beer in August so the class with have something to bottle in September.
